Capturing the spirit
A case study on the design of a very special limited edition bottle to commemorate the opening of Laverstoke Mill, the home of Bombay Sapphire. I worked on the script and storyboard with James Robertson and Sarah Knight.
In 2014 the home of Bombay Sapphire, Laverstoke Mill, will open its doors. We were asked to convey all elements of the site’s rich heritage as well as the story of Bombay Sapphire gin through design.
This lead to the design of the distinctive limited edition decanter. The bottle is adorned with an illustration depicting the key iconic features of both Laverstoke Mill and Bombay Sapphire.
The beautifully faceted stopper recalls the architecture of the onsite glasshouses, which house the Bombay Sapphire Botanicals. Illustrative detailing on the neck of the bottle and a decorative metal band are in homage to Laverstoke Mill’s paper-making history, producing banknotes for the British Empire.
